The American Dream is an arcade game developed by the independent Australian Samurai Punk. Among other platforms, the game was designed for Virtual Reality headgear and dedicated motion controllers, both of which are required for the game to work.
Plot
The American Dream takes players to an alternate version of the United States from the 1950s, where they assume the role of an American patriot currently residing at a facility erected by the key weapons manufacturers. The main protagonist can test himself how pistols, shotguns, and rifles can perfectly substitute other, more mundane items used when performing daily activities.
Mechanics
In The American Dream, players observe the action from the first-person perspective. During the game, one gets to visit over twenty diverse locations, in which he or she has to complete tasks involving e.g. preparing meals, driving a car, and performing work duties. Of course, we do all this using firearms – by shooting a pistol you can spin the grilling meat, open a can with your favorite beverage, light up the fireworks, and clear your path of any obstacles falling of the truck driving in front of you.
Technical aspects
The American Dream delivers visuals resembling 1950s' movie posters. Even though the game's main theme is firearms production, the game is humorous and the gameplay lacks any signs of violence.
