Tacoma

Tacoma for PS4, PC and XONE is a FPP science-fiction action-adventure game created by Fullbright - a developer popular for Gone Home. Similar to that game, Tacoma focuses mainly on storytelling.

Plot

The game is set in 2088. The world has developed substantially and space flights have become available for everyone - also, nobody is required to be a trained astronaut in order to leave the Earth. The player assumes the role of Amy Ferrier - a woman who has taken a job at a space station that circles on an orbit between the planet and the Moon. However, something seems to be wrong at the very beginning, for nobody is to be found at the station on Amy's arrival, when the place should be filled with workers. The station's on-board computer - ODIN, is the protagonist's only contact. but it does not reveal what happened here. The player is required to find it out on their own.

Mechanics

The gameplay consists mainly of exploration. Because the game is set in space, the player not only walks, but is also capable of opening special passages on ceilings for instance. One has to look around very carefully, for unlike in other FPP games, different valuables and clues can be found in places accessible only by unconventional means.

In Tacoma for PS4, PC and XONE, the player discovers subsequent secrets that collectively build up a larger picture. From time to time, the player stumbles on holographic recordings depicting actions taken by the crew of the station, as well as acquainting the player with relationships between particular workers and inhabitants of the station.
