Stories: The Path of Destinies

Stories: The Hidden Path for PS4 and PC is an action-RPG developed by Spearhead Games - an independent Montreal-based studio popular for a successful logic game Tiny Brains and the arcade Arena: Cyber Evolution. Creators from Spearhead Games gained experience working on large projects, for the studio was established by veterans of game-making, including mainly such figures as Malik Boukhira (co-designer in production of Assassin's Creed II and Dead Space 3), Simon Darveau (leader of the Ubisoft Singapore team in production of Assassin's Creed III) and Atul Mehra, who worked on the Army of Two series.

Plot

Stories: The Hidden Path for PS4 and PC takes the player to a fairytale fantasy world full of floating islands and airships. The lands are inhabited by a few kinds of humanized animals. The player assumes the role of a fox by the name of Raynardo. Among the similar sky-pirate daredevils, the protagonist was unfortunate enough to get involved in a conflict against the powerful Empire's armada beginning the invasion. Raynardo was the only one who survived the battle. Instead of running however, the protagonist decides reluctantly to try stopping the Empire and saving his native lands.

During his adventures, the protagonist rescues an old friend - a rabbit by the name of Lapino, who will help Raynardo in stopping the hostile armada. It is worth mentioning that the scenario is rather hilarious, and the player should not expect a serious storyline to be present in the game.

Mechanics

Stories: The Hidden Path for PS4 and PC offers classic action-RPG mechanics. The events are viewed from above, and the player explores the virtual environment, gathers gold and items, develops the protagonist and fights hordes of enemies mainly. The combat system is definitely arcade, thus the player's reflexes and skills are more important than the protagonist's statistics.

In Stories: The Hidden Path for PS4 and PC, the player is acquainted with the plot in an interesting way. Moreover, the player can affect it themselves. A narrator comments on the in-game events regularly, giving additional meaning to the context. The player is often obliged to make a significant moral choice which affects the story itself and the narrator adapting to it dynamically.

Technical aspects

The game offers alluring, fully three-dimensional visuals. In terms of the stylistics, it resembles European comic strips - the game is full of color and slightly simplified shapes.
