Mechanics

Starbase is an MMO game in which the action is observed from the first or third person perspective. The game focuses on exploring the vast universe, performing tasks (e.g. extracting minerals from asteroids or wrecks, transporting cargos and embarking on exploratory missions during which one can discover the secrets of the galaxy), taking part in various activities, fighting, and developing the character.

A very important feature of Starbase is the ability to influence the in-game world. Players can build a wide variety of things - from small objects to powerful space stations. One also has the option to freely destroy the surrounding elements, including making holes in walls or objects.

Interaction with other players is also very important - cooperation is crucial, because thanks to it one can achieve and build much more.

Game modes

The basis of Starbase gameplay is a multiplayer online mode, designed for a very large number of players. Unlike many other MMO productions, Frozenbyte's work also offers a sandbox module that allows one to play alone or with a few selected friends.

Technical aspects

Starbase has original, three-dimensional visuals based on the proprietary hybrid engine that combines traditional methods of generating a three-dimensional environment (using the vertexes, or polygons, with the help of which character models and the world were built) with solutions based on the so-called voxels. The whole experience is kept in a typical science fiction style with comic book-like touch.
