Spiritfall is an action platformer with roguelite elements. It's the debut game of the Gentle Giant team.

Plot

The story is set in a mysterious fantasy world. Beings known as divine spirits guard it from evil, but their power began waning when the gate leading to their home dimension closed. Desperate, they imbue the main playable character with the power of the Old Flame, tasking them with re-opening the gate.

Mechanics

Spiritfall is a 2D platformer. The player explores various stages, collects items, avoids traps and fights enemies. The game heavily emphasizes combat, the acrobatic movement and elaborate mechanics reminiscent of platform fighters such as Super Smash Bros.

Throughout the game, the player acquires and upgrades special abilities from the divine spirits. They can't all be used at once, so the player must carefully decide which ones suit their playstyle.

Progressing also rewards us with various resources, which can be spent on new skills and better weaponry.

The game features some roguelite elements. After each death, we are reborn in a temple known as the Sanctum, with the map being generated anew. We do, however, retain the unlocked upgrades.
