Have a Nice Death is an action platform game, enriched with elements from roguelike genre. It was developed by an independent team Magic Design Studios and published by Perfect World Entertainment.

Plot

The main character of Have a Nice Death is Death. The protagonist stands at the head of Death Incorporated, a thriving company that deals with carrying souls to the other world. The company's lower management levels are occupied by the Sorrows, who ensure a steady supply of fresh dead. When the Sorrows become overzealous in their duties, causing havoc on Earth and dropping tons of paperwork on our protégé's head, Death feels he is losing control of his business. In order to prevent a catastrophe, he has to give up his planned vacation and go for a walk on his domain, to remind his subordinates with a scythe in hand who is the boss.

Game mechanics

Have a Nice Death features side-scrolling action. Wandering through various sections of Death Incorporated, we deal mainly with eliminating hordes of enemies. Before we get to one of the Dragons, who plays here as a boss, we have to kill hordes of his subordinates. Although our most important weapon is a scythe, as we progress we gain new tools of murder and various combat spells.

During the dynamic clashes you have to show dexterity and reflexes, which makes it not difficult to lose. As Death cannot die, after being defeated by adversaries (or even after falling into one of the traps or after an unsuccessful jump over a chasm) we can start the journey over again, richer in earned money and knowledge of the challenges that await us. Locations are procedurally generated, so they look a bit different with every approach.

Moreover, during the game we gain various improvements. Although each of them increases our combat potential, they are not welcome in Death Incorporated. Deciding on one of them, we must therefore remember that in this way we bring on ourselves additional troubles, such as rising prices of items.

Technical aspects

The cartoonish graphics of the game Have a Nice Death is in the original color scheme, combining shades of gray with colorful accents.
