Spellforce 2: Demons Of The Past is another standalone expansion to Spellforce 2 – a successful RPG/RTS hybrid, released in 2006. Developed by Mind Over Matter, the expansion continues the threads started in two previous add-ons. The famous Shaikan hero, strives to save the endangered land throughout more than 50 missions set in five locations, on which he or she will face many dangers and new enemies led by a demon called Zazhut.

SpellForce 2: Demons Of The Past Description

SpellForce 2: Demons Of The Past is the last expansion for SpellForce 2. It concludes the story of Faith in Destiny and tells about the battles fought by the people of Eo against the forces of evil.

Zazhut has been freed so the inhabitants of Eo are in danger yet again. Moreover, the forces of Shaikan were decimated. The fate of the world lies in the player’s hands. Luckily, we assume the role of an Elder Shaikan that has no intention of yielding.

During the adventure, the player has a chance to reunite with the old friends and other characters he has met before. Of course, there is no shortage of completely new ones. The developers prepared over 50 missions for the main story as well as additional side quests, which gives us around 25 hours of gameplay. The game offers 5 new worlds that can be explored either solo or in cooperation (via LAN or the Internet).

Furthermore, Demons Of The Past introduces new weapons, items and magic spells that enrich the gameplay even further. Apart from that, we may now choose new character classes, which include Pact, Shaikan and the Undead.

The gameplay mechanics are not any different from those of the original SpellForce 2. It still combines cRPG and RTS elements. Demons Of The Past is a standalone expansion, which means that it does not require the basic version of SpellForce 2 to run.

The graphics have been significantly improved. We can now look at, for example, better lighting effects or even such enhanced details as grass, trees, leaves and realistic shadow behavior.
