Sparc is a sport arcade game for PC and PS4 developed for virtual reality devices. It is the work of Island CCP Games studio, known from popular MMO Eve Online.
Game mechanics
The game lets us take part in matches of futuristic sport based on classic game of two fires. Gameplay comes down to competition one versus one on fields that take form of long hallways. Players take static position on opposing sides of the map and try to hit each other with a ball using motion controllers.
PC and PS4’s version of Sparc has been designed to register all moves of players from midsection upwards. This means players are immobile, but can dodge a ball with their bodies. While this could mean that aiming for legs is the best bet, the virtual bodies of players lack them. To hit opponent, players must make use of ricochets, as system of realistic physics lets them bounce the ball from walls, floor and ceiling to deceive each other and increase chance of a successful attack.
Game modes
Sparc focuses on multiplayer fun, offering a few game modes and many social features, including virtual audience. However, there are also options for single players, where they can take on solo challenges or polish their skills in training mode.
Technical aspects
The game uses Unreal Engine 4 technology and has been designed solely for virtual reality devices, including motion controllers.
