One year after the premiere of the warm welcome SimIsle: Missions In The Rainforest Americans from Maxis offer us SimIsle in a "light" version. Addressed rather to the younger audience, SimPark puts the player in the role of a ranger (i.e. a forest guard), whose task is to create and maintain a park located somewhere in the continental part of the United States.

The key to success in the game is the ability to create an ideal, sustainable ecosystem. Starting our mission, we receive at our disposal an undeveloped plot of land, which we have to transform into a park loved by tourists. We then select the right species of plants and animals, bearing in mind that each of them has its own specific features and requirements. It is therefore important to provide them with adequate living conditions and to control the species balance, so as not to lead to excessive growth or complete extinction of a given species. The last element we need to take care of are attractions and facilities for visitors, such as paths, swings, slides and toilets. Let us not forget that our park is supposed to be above all an excellent source of income, thanks to which we will be able to continue to expand and make our territory more attractive.

The list of animal species that we can inhabit our park is huge and includes mammals, reptiles, amphibians and birds. When making our choice, we must take into account their biological needs, such as climatic conditions or preferred food. The type of trees, shrubs and flowers that we will plant in our park will also be important. Each of them also has its own favourite conditions and needs a certain amount of water to live. In addition, only some of them attract bees, which are necessary for pollination, and their absence may result in the death of the species.

Like the best titles in the series, the game also introduces the element of natural disasters, which we can experience during our struggle. These include, for example, rubbish dumps bringing a plague of rats, fires, pests or alien invasions into the park. SimPark doesn't shy away from humour - it's enough to listen to what the visitors of our park have to say.

Worth emphasizing are the huge educational values of the game. The title teaches not only ecology, but also contains a huge treasury of knowledge about hundreds of plant and animal species. Each description contains a brief description of the species, its biological needs and requirements, and often a record of its noise.
