Silent Hunter Video Game Series
A series of simulation games set in the realities of World War II, allowing players to take on the roles of submarine commanders. The brand is owned by Ubisoft, and its development is overseen by in-house studios Ubisoft Romania and Ubisoft Blue Byte, among others.
William T. Becker of Aeon Electronic Entertainment studio is considered the father of the series. The first game in the series was released in 1996 for PCs running the DOS operating system. The title was very well received by simulation fans, which resulted in an expanded edition released a year later - Silent Hunter Commander's Edition. Silent Hunter Commander's Edition. In 2001, players got their hands on the sequel prepared by the studio Ultimation Inc. (known, among others, for its tank simulator Panzer Commander). After the acquisition of the rights to the brand by Ubisoft corporation, the creation of subsequent installments of the series (starting with Silent Hunter III) was entrusted to an in-house development studio in Romania.
In all games of the series, the player has the opportunity to take on the role of the commander of a World War II submarine. Most often it is a German U-Boat, although in productions with action set in the Pacific (e.g. Silent Hunter 4) you usually command vessels flying the flag of the United States. The gameplay generally combines simulation and action game elements, but depending on the developers' intention, these accents may be distributed differently.
One of the factors that have influenced the popularity of the series is the attention to maintaining consistency with historical realities. Most of the ships appearing in games under the banner of Silent Hunter have their counterparts among authentic units from the World War II period. In addition, a number of scenarios are based on real military operations.
Other strengths of the games in the series Silent Hunter are, first of all, the refined audiovisual layer, which significantly surpasses the quality of competing products, as well as the multiplayer mode appreciated by many players, which was first introduced in Silent Hunter II.

A World War II submarine simulator developed by Blue Byte Software for internet browsers. The player assumes the role of a German captain of U-Boot and completes missions given to him by the fleet command. The missions are frequently based on historical events and take place during historical campaigns such as the Battle of the Atlantic. The gameplay is based on maneuvering the submarine and controlling the weapons installed in it. Despite the fact that most of the time the player will focus on watching various indicators, the periscope allows him to search for enemy units in real time. The main attraction of Silent Hunter Online are the multiplayer battles. A special system is observing the successes and failures of each commander. The game features high quality three-dimensional graphics.

The fifth installment in one of the most popular WWII submarine simulation game series. In Silent Hunter 5 you are sent to the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea, where, as the commander of a German U-boat VII, you hunt down the ships of the Allies. There is a dynamic campaign to complete, and your actions, victories and losses affect its outcome. It's worth noting that the campaign also includes historical naval battles. One of the game's novelties is the fully interactive interior of the submarine. In this mode the controls system is similar to that of an FPS game. You can only do one things at a time, which means that you have to rely on your subordinates. Each of them has their own unique character, problems, and abilities. An important factor is your crew's morale. You can also develop your crewmates and the ship itself.

Silent Hunter III is the third installment in the World War II submarine simulator series. In comparison with the previous game, Ubisoft implemented many changes and improvement in Silent Hunter III, with modern 3D visuals that render the game in a rather realistic way. The game offers us four types of U-boots in ten different development versions. All interiors and onboard devices (we can use all of them) are rendered in 3D with highest attention to detail. Each member of our crew has their own individual model and a skill set on which we base their duties. Moreover, they gain experience as we play making them more useful and reliable. Silent Hunter III focuses on a campaign during which we climb up the military rank ladder. The game comes with a level editor, in addition to single player missions, that allows players to create their own levels. Developers also included a multiplayer mode for those who are interested.
