Sausage Sports Club

Sausage Sports Club for PC and SWITCH is a hilarious arcade game, which casts the players in the roles of funny animals competing against one another in crazy contests. The game was developed by an independent studio Luckshot Games, and interestingly, the project went throught a successful crowd-funding campaign on Kickstarter.

Mechanics

The action is viewed from high above, and the player takes part in different contests inspired both by real sport disciplines and game modes from popular video games. The player-controlled animals can put their skills to the test mainly while playing football, doing sumo wrestling, or participating in competitions based on the rules of the multiplayer mode Capture the Flag.

What distinguishes Sausage Sports Club for PC and SWITCH from other games of this kind, is that the in-game competitions are governed by a physics engine, which produces the unusual behaviours of the animals one controls here. No matter if it is a dog named Scout, a parrot by the name of Birdie, or Jaws the shark, each one’s neck is extraordinarily long, so the animals have certain problems with moving around the arena, caused by their heads swinging sideways. Alongside progression, the player unlocks both new game modes and pieces of clothing for the animals, apart from new competitors.

Game modes

The game can be experienced solo, or in company of up to 8 other players. A series of modes was included – above all, one will find here the Adventure Mode, which gives an opportunity to get to know better each of the animals (it is a mode aimed at loners, as well as cooperative gameplay), and the Free Play mode – the player participates in multiplayer competition for victory, devoid of restraints.

Technical aspects

Sausage Sports Club for PC and SWITCH offers eye-pleasing, colorful visuals, thanks to the Unity engine used. The experience was conveyed in a slightly caricatural, cartoonish graphic style.
