Rise of the Triad Remastered is a remastered version of an iconic 1994 first-person shooter. The game supports high resolutions, 16:9 aspect ratio and features improved multiplayer. It was developed by a Polish studio Destructive Creations (known for the highly-controversial Hatred and an RTS, Ancestors Legacy) alongside Apogee Software.
Plot
Rise of the Triad Remastered has us playing as an operative of HUNT - High-Risk United Nations Taskforce - tasked with stopping an insane villain from destroying the world.
Mechanics
Rise of the Triad Remastered is a typical first-person shooter. The game features five different characters with various traits and skills, as well as numerous different weapons, such as pistols, rifles and rocket launchers.
The player must explore locations and fight enemies, of whom there are about ten different types. It's worth noting the stages are very flat - usually we can't move vertically at all, apart from using special levitating platforms. The most distinctive mechanic of Rise of the Triad is destructible environment.
Game modes
Rise of the Triad Remastered supports singleplayer and multiplayer. The primary game mode is singleplayer, featuring several dozen stages, though there's also extensive multiplayer, one of the strongest elements of the 1994's original (both due to the high number of supported players and many gameplay modes). There's also Classic Mode designed for fans of the original game, letting them play without any modern improvements.
Technical aspects
Rise of the Triad Remastered features enhanced visuals, supporting higher resolutions and 16:9 aspect ratio. On the PC, it also supports mouse controls (as the original game only supported the keyboard).
