Revita Description
Revita is an action platformer with twin-stick shooter and roguelike elements. It was developed by an indie studio BenStar and published by Dear Villagers.
Plot
The protagonist of Revita is Revita Kid, a child who woke up at a grim subway station. Afflicted with amnesia, the protagonist decides to climb a distant clock tower in search of answers and lost memories. Along the way they explore the game's dark world, meet its inhabitants and face countless enemies.
Mechanics
Revita is a side-scroller. The player must zoom through levels, jump onto platforms, slide on walls, avoid traps and fight hordes of enemies. Aside from regular enemies we'll also face much more powerful bosses. To eliminate our foes we'll make use of a diverse range of guns. Health is our main currency and can be exchanged for items, increasing our combat potential while making us more vulnerable. Progressing through the game rewards us with power-ups which can turn the tides of many battles. Fortunately, not every character is hostile - occassionally we'll encounter allies offering various kinds of help.
Levels are procedurally generated, meaning we'll face different challenges each run. Combat is extremely dynamic, with the screen offer flooded with massive amounts of bullets, making it reminiscent of bullet hell shooters. There are also, however, many different accessibility options available that let the player customize the gameplay to their preferences and skills; this includes slowing the game down, enabling colorful outlines around enemies or aim assist.
Technical aspects
Revita makes use of a colorful, pixelated artstyle.
