Reka PC

Reka is a creative adventure game inspired by Slavic culture and mythology. It's the debut project of a German indie studio Emberstorm Entertainment.

Plot

Reka is set in an alternate fantasy 19th-century Europe. The game's protagonist is a student of Baba Yaga - a beginner witch traversing the world and learning her trade by helping villagers or, if we so choose, cursing them.

Mechanics

Reka is a third-person game (TPP). The game begins with us creating our own witch in an expansive character creator.

The game's world is vast, diverse and procedurally generated, the player traversing it on foot. We explore dense forests and dark swamps, gather potion ingredients, tame animals that can accompany us on our journeys and help us acquire certain items, connect ourselves to the spirit world and, of course, visit settlements and accept quests from villagers.

It's up to us whether we'd rather do good, brew remedies and help them with their problems, or do evil, cursing them and preparing poisons. As we progress through the game we develop our protagonist as her magical abilities grow stronger and more diverse.

No matter where she goes, she's never far from home. She lives in a house on chicken legs which follows her constantly, majestically walking in the distance and settling down once she comes near. The player can expand the house with new rooms, furniture, decorations, useful gear and souvenirs acquired during our travels.

Technical aspects

Reka makes use of an atmospheric, cartoonish artstyle. The visuals are not realistic in the slightest, but they are unique and distinctive.
