Rampage World Tour

Developed by Avalanche Software, the game is the fourth part of the Rampage series, in which giant animals born through experiments wreak havoc on Earth. The title continues the story presented in Rampage Universal Tour. This time the leitmotif is time travel.

Story

Humanity is trying to rebuild the cities razed to the ground during the events presented in Rampage Universal Tour. To speed up the process, Scumlabs develops a time travel machine. Unexpectedly, giant monsters that have returned to the Blue Planet gain access to it. George the gorilla, Lizzie, the crocodile, Ralph the wolf, Boris the rhinoceros, Curtis the rat, Ruby the lobster and Harley the warthog move into the past and future, spreading death and destruction.

Mechanics

Rampage Through Time is based on proven elements known from previous parts of the cycle. The players again select the monster and are taken to 2D maps, where their goal is to destroy all buildings. This task is hindered by the area's defending soldiers, often equipped with various combat vehicles, as well as other monsters present in the arena. The aim of the game is to do more damage than the competitors.

In campaign mode, the devs divided the game into several segments, which take place in different times. Each of them consists of three maps and an additional arena on which different objective is usually applied. The devs have created simple clones of old arcade game for these boards, so the fun comes down to destroying targets Asteroids-style or collecting orbs like in Pac-Man.

Technical aspects

Rampage Through Time reuses the two-dimensional graphics with caricatural character models and exaggerated violence. The title was published exclusively on PS1.
