An unusual combination of a simple racing game with a puzzle puzzle game. The player's task is to arrange the route consisting of rotating square elements in such a way that a car moving automatically reaches the finish line safely, passing a certain number of checkpoints along the way.

Racer 8, released on AND, iOS and PC, is an unusual production by the independent 30.06 Studios, combining elements of a simple racing game and a puzzle-laying logic game.

Mechanics

As with most typical racing games, it is the player's job to drive the car from the start to the finish line, completing a certain number of checkpoints along the way. However, the whole difficulty is that the next routes are composed of square blocks, which can suddenly change their orientation while playing. The aim of the game is to stack them in such a way that a car moving automatically doesn't fall out of the route and safely reaches its destination. This should be done as soon as possible, as over time our vehicle starts to accelerate, which makes it very difficult for us to complete the task.

The game consists of 50 different tracks, varying in appearance and weather conditions (rain, snow, etc.). Apart from their aesthetic qualities, they do not affect the course of the game itself and the vehicle's behavior. As races progress, the cash earned during them can unlock new car models or several useful bonuses to make it easier to play.

Technical aspects

Racer 8 features relatively simple graphics, which translates into extremely low hardware requirements. The game is observed in an isometric view with the option to rotate the map freely. The game is designed exclusively for the single-player mode, but the creators have taken care of the competitive element by introducing online player rankings.
