The player assumes the role of a young fan of water races who agrees to help the main character of the series in taking down a mob from the inside. He participates in many illegal competitions with the criminals.
Driver Speedboat Paradise is a mobile game released on AND and iOS. It enables the player to participate in speedboat races. The title was developed by a division of Ubisoft and it uses free-to-play distribution model with microtransactions.
Plot
John Tanner was the main protagonist in the console and PC installments of the series. He was a cop that usually worked undercover and helped in taking down various organized crime groups. Despite the transition from cars to speedboats, Driver Speedboat Paradise for AND and iOS remains faithful to the series. This time the player assumes the role of a young fan of water races, who is convinced by Tanner to help him in taking down the mob.
Mechanics
During the game the player participates in, mostly illegal, competitions. His opponents are usually criminals or their bosses. The developers created more than thirty tracks located in places like Miami, Venice, Bahamas and Cancum city. The AND and iOS version of the title offers quite realistic physics that impact the behavior of the speedboat and the water. However, the game is not a simulator. The developers intended to create spectacular and dynamical races, for example by filling the tracks with nitro containers that enable the player to activate boost and with various ramps thanks to which the participants can perform very high jumps. Dynamically changing weather that impacts the behavior of the boat is an additional attraction as well.
Driver Speedboat Paradise for AND and iOS contains a development system as well. By winning competitions the player obtains virtual currency that can be spent on new vehicles or on upgrading the already owned ones. It is also possible to strongly modify the look of the boats with various symbols and templates.
