Punky Skunk is a PlayStation 1 game based on classic patterns and solutions from Japanese 2D platformers featuring a nice skunk as the protagonist.

Story

Bold skunk Punky learns that bad wolf Badler and his BB Brigade henchmen are planning to destroy his home land. Together with Kelly the rabbit and inventor Skunk Nash, he decides to face them. The situation becomes more complicated when one of his companions is kidnapped. The race against time begins when not only the fate of the world, but also the safety of a friend is at stake.

Mechanics

Punky Skunk is a typical side-scroll platformer in which the player-led hero moves to the right, facing a variety of adversities. The authors have prepared a standard set of agility challenges. In addition, Punky must eliminate the enemies he encounters by jumping on them or attacking them with his ugly scent. The creators prepared many types of opponents, forcing players to devise specific tactics.

The game is distinguished by additional mini-games, in which the hero uses the gadget he previously acquires. At these levels, Punky's task is, for example, to recharge the batteries with power generated by fast stationary bikes or to cover a certain distance on a snowboard.

Technical issues

Punky Skunk is a 2D game with a colourful cartoon-like setting. The game was initially planned for Super Nintendo console, which can be seen in lower quality sprites and animations.
