Postal Video Game Series
A controversial action game series that owes its notoriety primarily to sadistic but also grotesque violence. The series Postal was created and is being developed by Running with Scissors studio, which also occasionally collaborates with other developers.
The first Postal was released for personal computers in 1997. Viewing the action in an isometric view, during the game we played the role of a psychopathic killer, eliminating everything and everyone who wound up under his barrel. Despite the fact that the production in question did not go down in gold in the history of video games, it gained a group of devoted fans. Postal 2 debuted (also only on PC) only in 2003. Unlike the original, events here were shown from a first-person perspective (FPP). Admittedly, over the course of successive missions we were given a variety of tasks to perform (in many cases not requiring the protagonist to reach for a weapon), but again it was unfettered killing and sowing chaos that was the pillar of gameplay. The title ran on Unreal Engine technology and offered pretty solid graphics. The position lived to see two expansions; Postal 2: Apocalypse Weekend debuted in 2004, in turn Postal 2: Paradise Lost went on sale ... in 2015, which is 12 years after the release of its basic version. The full-fledged third installment of the series, i.e. Postal III, appeared on personal computers in 2011. Compared to its predecessor, the game stood out due to a new perspective - this time the Dude was viewed from behind his back. In addition, the item offered the opportunity to take both the side of evil (and play as an eco-terrorist) and the side of good (then we played as a police officer).
In 2016, Running with Scissors studio decided to remind us of the roots of its series and released the game Postal: Redux, which is a remake of the first installment of the series. For the full-fledged fourth part of the series, fans had to wait until 2022, when it was released. Postal 4: No Regerts. The project drew handfuls from the achievements of Postal 2, which is why we watched the action in it from a first-person perspective. Nevertheless, the game stood out from it due to its colorful, slightly cartoonish graphics. The year 2022 also saw the release of the game Postal: Brain Damaged, which is a spin-off of the series, developed by Polish studios Hyperstrange and CreativeForge Games. The title was kept in a retro style, defenseless (mostly) people were replaced in it by monsters (which are visions created by the damaged brain of the Dude), in turn, quite realistic locations gave way to slightly more imaginative levels, led by Zone 69. Interestingly, at the time of its release, it was the highest rated part of the series by players and industry media.
Postal is not only a video game, but also a film adaptation, directed by the infamous Uwe Boll. Admittedly, the production was not an artistic or commercial success, but, like the original, it found a group of devoted fans. What's more, Boll planned to develop its sequel, but when the crowdfunding campaign organized for it failed, the project was buried.

A modern remake of one of the most controversial games in gaming history. Originally, the title came out in 1997 as a debut production from the developer Running With Scissors. Both the gameplay and the premise were inspired by the phrase “going postal” which means to become uncontrollably angry and violent as a result of working a stressful job. In the game, we assume the role of the Postal Dude who hits the streets with an intent of murdering anyone who happens to stand, walk, or sit in his way. The title offers several various levels, in which the innocent civilians will be slaughtered with a vast arsenal of weapons of different caliber and purpose. The new version is powered by Unreal Engine 4, which translates into incomparably better graphics, prettier locations, and more detailed character models. It also offers a cooperation mode. Despite the changes to the technical side of the game, the developers managed to preserve the specific atmosphere of the original.

The third installment in one of the most brutal and controversial game series in the history, started in 1997 by Running With Scissors. The plot connects to the events from the previous installments, but this time it takes us to a completely new town of Catharsis where the Ecotologists, an eco-terrorist organization, wage a war with the local police. The player can join either side and take part in two slightly different campaigns. In accordance with the series’ disgraceful tradition, nothing is stopping you from taking it out on innocent passers-by with very sophisticated tools of murder. In comparison to the previous parts of the franchise, the action is seen from the third-person perspective. During gameplay you encounter a bunch of real life figures, like the movie director Uwe Boll and the porn-star Ron Jeremy. The game is powered by the quite dated Source engine, created for Half-Life 2.

The direct successor to one of the most controversial PC games of all time. The original game was released in 1997. Again, the player takes on the role of Postal Dude, whose entire life collapses one day. The desperate protagonist has to fulfill a set of daily tasks over the course of one week, relieving personal tensions along the way. The game is set in Paradise - a town where the majority of population (ordinary civilians, cops, priests, zombies, mutants and even religious fanatics) is armed and hostile towards the protagonist. However, Postal Dude has a wide array of weaponry throughout the game, including both conventional firearms and melee weapons, as well as other sophisticated, often shocking means of destruction. Transition into three-dimensional environment and making the player observe the game world through the eyes of the protagonist were the largest changes introduced in the second installment. These were possible thanks to the Unreal Engine the game utilizes.
