Pokemon Cafe Mix is a match-3 puzzle game which is a spin-off of the Pokemon cycle. We run a cafe for the pocket monsters, taking part in mini-games and recruiting more Pokemon.
Pokemon Cafe Mix is a spin-off of the popular turn-based RPG series by Nintendo, kept in puzzle game style. The Genius Sorority studio is responsible for the development of this game, which has other side effects of the series: Pokemon Shuffle, Pokemon Link and Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness.
Mechanics
In Pokemon Cafe Mix we take on the role of the owner of the pokemon cafe and fulfill orders placed by charming creatures. This gives us an excuse to take part in a handful of logical mini-games. Like in the classic Tetris, our task is to place blocks falling from above on the board. The difference is that the role of the blocks has been taken over by pokemon icons, and instead of creating a horizontal line from different shapes we have to gather together elements representing one kind of creature. We also do not control single, falling blocks. Instead, we move the pointer around the board and collect the interesting icons. The more elements we connect at once, the more points we get for a given combination. Thus, the game is closer to the Disney Tsum Tsum released in 2014.
We have a limited number of turns for each job. If we do extremely well, a satisfied pokemon can join our cafe as part of the staff. Each pokemon species has unique abilities that will help us to cope with the next challenges. However, if we fail, we lose one of our five hearts, and after using them all, we have to wait some time before we can sit down again.
