Similarly to its predecessor, the game uses full motion video technology that utilizes interactive video footage with real actors. The developers of the remaster have cleaned up ninety minutes of the recordings used in the original game and they created a new interface that supports FullHD resolution. In Night Trap – 25th Anniversary Edition the player assumes the role of one of the agents of a secret agency that fights paranormal threats. The game takes place in the house of the Martin family. Five young female friends are having a sleepover there. Soon they discover that they aren’t alone, as vampire-like creatures called the Augers invade the house. The player must protect the girls from danger by using various traps installed across the mansion. The gameplay focuses on observation of the feed from eight different cameras and on activating traps whenever one of the monsters is in the range. Because the events are played in real time, each failure is permanent – failing to protect even one girl leads to losing the game and to having to start it from the beginning.
