New World: Rise of the Angry Earth

New World: Rise of the Angry Earth is the first paid expansion to New World, a 2021 MMORPG. It was developed by the same studio, Amazon Games.

Plot

The story of New World: Rise of the Angry Earth focuses on the titular cataclysm, which has destroyed First Light, the south-western area of Aeternum. The fate of settlements and people living in the area is unknown, and a new threat appeared beyond its now deadly border - the mighty Beast Lords. Those brave enough to venture there must handle this threat before it spreads too far. The disaster is not without merits though, as it lets heroes tame and mount animals.

Mechanics

The biggest novelty introduced in New World: Rise of the Angry Earth is taming mounts. We can tame not only horses, but also wolves and even lions. Our companions can be named and equipped with different gear, depending on needs and preferences. There are also new riding skills, developing which lets us travel faster or unlocks new upgrades.

The DLC also raises the level cap, introduces new attributes, items, quests and faction levels. There are also items of Artifact tier, a new weapon type - the flail, and a new ability - Primal Fury. There's also a new playable expedition, available to players of at least level 62.

Technical aspects

Rise of the Angry Earth is not a standalone expansion, requiring the base version of New World.

New World - Season 3

The expansion's release also meant the beginning of Season 3 in New World. The main story quests were changed, the game was re-balanced and many problems have been fixed, according to player feedback. There are also special seasonal events to play.
