On December 30, 2005 the official game servers were closed and the development works were completed.

After four years of Asheron's Call, Microsoft decided to finance its successor. The work was entrusted to the Turbine Entertainment team, the same team that was responsible for the original. According to the creators, this is the first game that will not age graphically. It was created on the basis of the new Turbine Engine 2.0 (mechanism responsible for audio-visual and gameplay), awarded at the E3 fair in 2001. This engine provides smooth scaling of graphics quality depending on the capabilities of the user's computer hardware. The technology is to use, where possible, greater computing power of processors and new models of graphics cards to display new variants of graphics. This is not, of course, at the expense of owners of slower computers, on which the game is also supposed to run very smoothly.
