New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe is a re-edition of the platform game available so far on the Wii U console. The Switch version contains additional content in the form of DLC New Super Luigi U and two additional heroes.
New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe is an improved version of New Super Mario Bros U, released on Wii U. The Nintendo Switch version includes both the basic version of the game as well as the DLC New Super Luigi U and two additional playable characters - Nabbit and Toadette.
Plot
As in most titles focusing on the adventures of the Mario brothers, in New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe the main plot point is defeating Bowser, who once again raids Princess Peach's castle and shoots her defenders far beyond the defensive walls of the fortress. Mario and Luigi have to find their way back to the castle and save the princess once again.
Mechanics
New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe is an improved version of the two-dimensional platform game previously available on Wii U. The title is a classic two-dimensional platformer, in which the levels are traversed from left to right, overcoming not only terrain obstacles but also opponents. The game also features boss fights. New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe is geared towards multiplayer mode and involves both cooperation and competition in the so-called Challenge Mode, where players can rival each other in collecting coins or completing stages on time. One of the novelties offered by the Deluxe version is two additional characters, resistant to attacks of opponents Nabbit and Toadette, which after eating a special fruit can turn into Princess Peach, with the ability to glide. The title offers a total of 164 different levels.
Technical aspects
New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe is characterized by a colorful three-dimensional graphic design maintained in the convention of a two-dimensional game. The Nintendo Switch version, however, does not offer a much better graphic design than the Wii U version.
