Monster Sanctuary Description
Monster Sanctuary is a combination of metroidvania and RPG with pixelart graphics, in which players catch creatures like in the Pokemon series. The game was created by the independent studio Moi Rai Games.
Plot
There are people and monsters in the world. For some time now, however, bloody battles have been fought between the two groups, leading to many victims. As a descendant of legendary monster hunters and tamers, our task is to go on an expedition to solve the mystery of the conflict between humans and beasts and become a legendary hunter.
Mechanics
The gameplay in Monster Sanctuary is observed from side-scrolling perspective and as in the case of Pokemon, we start by choosing our first pet to accompany us on our journey. It the first of many creatures that we will encounter on the road and which, with a little effort on our part, will accompany and fight for us. Each creature has its own unique skill tree, which we can improve as soon as we have enough experience points. We gain these during fights where the better we do, the more experience we gain. Creatures can also be improved by feeding them favourite treats or putting on equipment. All this will increase the basic stats of our creature, such as strength, health and others.
Combat takes place in 3-on-3 battles, where both we and the opponent put up a maximum of three creatures (the same happens when we fight against wild monsters). Combat is tactical and focused on performing the longest possible chain of attacks. It is up to us to decide which of the tamed creatures we want to develop and which of them will be the default unit in our team.
Creatures in Monster Sanctuary are useful not only in combat but also in exploration. Thanks to their powers, we will enter places we would never have be able to reach. Our assistants will get rid of wild vegetation, stone walls, or enable us to slip into tight corners.
Technical aspects
Monster Sanctuary uses pixel-art graphics, taking care of details of the surroundings we visit.
