Use a Potion: 8.5 / 10
Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes – Definitive Edition adds a strategic twist to the match-three formula that makes it a blast to play. Whether battling through the meaty single player campaign, facing off against friends and strangers online, or having a quick battle alone, there’s plenty of fun to be had as you use your robust roster of units to dismantle your enemy’s defences. It adds a deceptively deep amount of strategy to the otherwise straight-forward match-three formula, but in doing so offers one heck of a satisfying puzzle experience that’s easy to pick up and play, but very, VERY hard to put down.
Nintendo Life: 8 / 10 by Mitch Vogel
Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes – Definitive Edition is a worthwhile remake of a somewhat obscure puzzle classic. Its clever integration of light RPG elements on top of the puzzling action gives it an impressive amount of strategic depth, while the rotating cast of characters and factions offer plenty of variety in unit types and playstyles across its run. Add this to a strong multiplayer component, and you have a game that easily justifies the cost of entry. Though we were put off a bit by its difficulty spikes and the woes of RNG, this is ultimately a game that we'd give a strong recommendation to anyone looking for an interesting new puzzle game to add to their Switch library.
Pure Nintendo: 9 / 10 by Kirk Hiner
Might & Magic – Clash of Heroes: Definitive Edition's nearly perfect combination of puzzle and RPG elements make for engrossing gameplay that's only occasionally hampered by frustration with the components that involve random luck. Whether this is your first playthrough or a double (or even triple) dip, it's not to be missed.
Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes - Definitive Edition Description
Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes - Definitive Edition is a remastered, content-enhanced version of Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes, a combination of a turn-based strategy, an RPG and a puzzle game. It was developed by Capybara Games, the same studio responsible for the original game, and published by Dotemu.
Plot
Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes - Definitive Edition is set in a fantasy world, in the land of Ashan, 40 years before the events of Heroes of Might and Magic V. The game tells the story of five heroes trying to save the world from a demonic conspiracy.
Mechanics
Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes - Definitive Edition makes use of a top-down perspective. Although the game has plenty of exploration, conversations with NPCs and quests, as expected from an RPG, it mostly revolves around combat.
Battles are turn-based, players controlling various units, each with their own strengths, weaknesses and abilities. To succeed, we must take advantage of their strengths, position them correctly and chain their attacks into effective combos.
As we progress, we recruit new party members, hire mercenaries, acquire powerful artifacts and spells, as well as develop our heroes and units. All this lets us face gradually grander challenges.
Game modes
In addition to its single-player campaign, Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes - Definitive Edition features an extensive, rebalanced multipler mode. We can play locally or online, competitively (1v1, 2v2) or in co-op, or against the AI.
The remastered version also includes the I Am the Boss expansion, letting us play as one of the game's bosses outside the campaign.
Technical aspects
Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes - Definitive Edition features colorful, cartoonish visuals. Compared to the original release, the game stands out thanks to its remade character portraits.
