Mechanics
Midnight Run is an arcade racing game, which enables us to sit at behind the wheel of several machines popular in the late nineties of the 20th century. Cars are available in two versions, normal and stronger - after tuning, which is characterized by higher top speed. The creators prepared three tracks of different length and complexity placed in a fictional metropolis. In each of the night races competes a total of four drivers who have to show not only the best pace and knowledge of the route, but also the reflexes to avoid ordinary road users. The game does not try to realistically simulate the behavior of vehicles, so collisions are simplified, and cars can easily enter controlled slides and continue them across large sections of the track.
Technical aspects
Midnight Run is a three-dimensional game distinguished by its typically arcade style and high pace. The game features FMV scenes introducing the atmosphere of illegal races. The devs modelled the available vehicles on real machines from Japan, such as Toyota Supra or Honda NSX.
