developer: SingleTrac publisher: Sony Interactive Entertainment
Jet Rider 2 (known as Jet Moto 2 in North America) is a continuation of the racing game Jet Moto, released in 1997 on PS1. Like the original, it focuses on races done of special air scooters, able to move both above the ground and above the water. The game was created by SingleTrac studio, the developers of Twisted Metal and Twisted Metal 2, among others.
Mechanics
In Jet Rider 2, released on PS1, the player participates in a series of air scooter races, held on twenty different tracks. Ten tracks have been moved directly from the first part of the series, while the other ten are completely new locations, distinguished by greater diversity. The latter include a city destroyed by an earthquake, ice-bound mountains, a desert canyon or a mountain railway in an amusement park.
Ten competitors participate in the races at the same time, which is less than in Jet Moto. Reducing the number of participants has allowed the developers to produce a constant frame rate and to increase the difficulty level by improving the artificial intelligence of their opponents. Individual characters - differing in statistics - were divided into teams, advertising sponsors such as Mountain Dew or JetSki. You can play Jet Rider 2 either alone or with a friend in split-screen mode.
Other
It is worth mentioning that the version of the game released in the United States as part of the Greatest Hits series is quite significantly different from the other releases. As a result of a mistake, the CD didn't include the standard edition of Jet Moto 2, but a modified version entitled Jet Moto 2: Championship Edition. In this version, the number of participants in the race has been reduced to four, which has further improved the smoothness of the gameplay. In addition, players have access to all tracks from the first part of the series from the very beginning of the game, while in the original version they had to be unlocked.
