Megadimension Neptunia VIIR

Megadimension Neptunia VIIR is an improved version of the unusual jRPG from 2015, Megadimension Neptunia VII, the protagonists of which are personifications of famous Japanese consoles and development studios. The title was developed by Compile Heart.

Plot

Megadimension Neptunia VIIR is a sort of an anthology – it features three unrelated chapters. Each of them features well known characters and a cast of new ones. In Zero Dimension Game Neptune Z: Ragnarok of the Abyss Goddess Neptune and her sister are being taken to the Zero Dimension destroyed by four evil deities. Hyperdimension Game Neptune G: Gold Vanguard Gamindustri Existance of Change focuses on a battle tournament created by the protagonists. The last chapter – Heart Dimension Game Neptune H – presents a story about an invasion of Uzume Tennouboshi and her army of monsters from Zero Dimension.

Mechanics

Similarly to the original version of the game, Megadimension Neptunia VIIR is a classic RPG in which combat is turn-based and the players control four characters. Arenas on which the fights take place are three-dimensional and the players can freely move through them. Dialogues and new pieces of the story are presented in a manner similar to visual novel games – the players see large two-dimensional models of characters while the dialogues can be read or listened to.

The mechanics of the Megadimension Neptunia VIIR were greatly improved in comparison to the original version of the game. The improved combat system enables the players to create combos during the fight and it introduces new features that make the strategic layer of the game deeper. The protagonists can transform into new, more powerful forms and the list of available characters was greatly expanded.

Technical aspects

Megadimension Neptunia VIIR is based on a new, three-dimensional graphics engine that provide much better quality than the one used in PS3 version. The game supports PlayStation VR goggles.
