Fairy Fencer F: Advent Dark Force Description
Fairy Fencer F: Advent Dark Force is a traditional three-dimensional jRPG embedded in the fantasy world. His production is the responsibility of the Japanese Compile Heart studio, which has been specializing in the creation of new titles in the genre for years. The game is an enhanced and greatly expanded port of the original Fairy Fencer F, which debuted on PlayStation 3 in 2013. Some elements of the game have changed, such as the combat system, as well as the storyline, which has been extended with new heroes and history.
Plot
The story presented in the title takes place in a world which in the distant past was an arena of conflict between two powerful deities. They have created a series of magical weapons to ensure their victory in battle. When the gods disappeared, their weapon, initially called fury, fell into the hands of human swordsmen. In every weapon there is an intelligent spirit of a caregiver, who contacts the owner and cooperates with him in partnership. Fang, a boy who is the main character of the title and one of the swordsmen, at the beginning of his adventure meets another representative of his profession named Tiara, who tries at all costs to gather as many fury as possible. Advent Dark Force version has two new, alternative fictional chapters that start when the original is finished. Players can choose one of them and see another final of the title, in which we are accompanied by completely new heroes.
Mechanics
The action of the game is observed from the third person perspective. We travel between three-dimensional locations on a general map of the world. While exploring individual levels, we encounter various types of creatures, as well as NPCs. Dialogues and feature interludes were made in the form known from visual novel (two-dimensional portraits and text displayed at the bottom of the screen). The combat system in the game is a expanded version of what we could find in the cycle Hyperdimension Neptune. Advent Dark Force version significantly modifies the appearance of skirmishes, extending the number of characters involved from three to six. Team members move freely on the battlefield, but accept the commands in turn-based order. In addition to standard attacks, they also have special skills and unique movements that wreak havoc on the ranks of opponents. Thanks to the next clashes the heroes gain experience and advance, increasing their statistics. They gain new skills by strengthening the weapons they use.
Technical aspects
The graphic design of Fairy Fencer F: Advent Dark Force at first glance resembles the Hyperdimension Neptune series. This is not a coincidence, because the game was created on the same engine, and the designs of the characters and backgrounds were prepared by the same artist. So we are dealing with very colorful and comic graphics, which will surely appeal to fans of earlier works of Compile Heart. The legendary Yoshitaka Amano worked on the production, preparing sketches and conceptual drawings for Fairy Fencer F, and a part of the musical setting was created by Nobuo Uematsu composer.
