M.E.A.T. II: Absolute Zero Description
M.E.A.T. II: Absolute Zero is the second installment of the series that began in 2021. In contrast to the first game, which was an action RPG, this time we are dealing with a representative of so-called boomer shooters, modeled on the classics of the genre.
The sequel was developed by Trippin Bears - a Polish development studio, established in 2020. It was founded, among others, by Wojciech Zawadzki, known in the Polish hip-hop community.
Story
The action of M.E.A.T. II: Absolute Zero takes place after the events depicted in the previous game under this banner. We go back to 19th-century Canada, specifically - to Washagami. In the vicinity of this city, a mysterious substance called Telestarion was discovered, which leads to the mutation of living beings and changes the nature of objects.
The main character of the game is the life-experienced Sir Duncan H. Culligan, whom we met in the original. This time, the protagonist must face the dark sect called MBSXII, which plans to use Telestarion for its dark purposes, which could result in a real disaster.
Gameplay
In M.E.A.T. II: In Absolute Zero we watch the action from a first-person perspective (FPP). While exploring the dark corners of Washagami and its surroundings, we mainly focus on eliminating hordes of enemies.
On our path, we encounter both hostile people and aggressive creatures, among which powerful bosses take the lead. The fights are dynamic, and on the battlefield we make use of an arsenal powered by Telestarion, in which we will find not only firearms (like revolvers or shotguns), but also melee weapons (led by the axe).
In breaks from pulling the trigger and close combat, we can devote some time to searching for secrets. Among them, we can find hidden levels, secret boss battles, and various easter eggs.
Graphics
The graphic design of M.E.A.T. II: Absolute Zero was maintained in a retro style combining three-dimensional locations and objects with two-dimensional sprites (representing enemies or even the hero's hand holding a weapon).
