Max Ammo is a third-person shooter for mobile devices developed by the indie studio Mantis Shrimp. When planet Earth is attacked by Reptors, one of the world's greatest special agents is sent to fight them - our mustached protagonist. His task is not that complicated, he has to shoot everything in his way. That includes not only regular, one-shot opponents, but also more powerful bosses, whose defeat is based on how good our battle tactics was.

Max Ammo is a crazy mobile TPP shooter set in a science fiction universe. Our goal is to stop the invasion of creatures from space. German studio Mantis Shrimp is responsible for the creation of the game. The title is available in a free-to-play model on AND and iOS mobile devices.

Plot

The plot of Max Ammo is not excessively original or complex. When lizard-like creatures from the mysterious Reptor race launch an attack on Earth, the secret services send one of the best special agents. His task is to stop aliens and defend the planet. We play as the titular mustached character with an unspecified past, who, equipped with a wide arsenal of weapons and gadgets, eliminates the enemies.

Mechanics

The creators from Mantis Shrimp studio did not try to compete with the serious productions from home platforms. Instead, we received a crazy shooter with a simplified control model that perfectly matches the specificity of mobile devices. The goal is to reach the end of the level. Along the way, we eliminate enemies. Some of them are defeated with a single shot, but there are also more demanding bosses and mega-bosses requiring a bit more "sophisticated" combat tactics.

In Max Ammo, we don't have full control over the hero - we use gestures to indicate the direction of the character's movement. The gameplay boils down to moving between the covers scattered around the maps and avoiding enemy lasers and missiles. We attack aliens by tapping the screen - our character can use various types of automatic weapons and gadgets. During breaks between missions, we use the gold collected during the game to improve our weapons and armor, for example by increasing their durability, reload speed, etc. The game also has a simple crafting system offering numerous options.

Max Ammo belongs to the free-to-play category - this means that it has premium currency in the form of crystals that can be purchased for real cash. More impatient players can use them for faster development of their equipment.

Game modes

At the time of the release, Max Ammo offered several gameplay modes, but all of them were for one player only. Despite this fact, offline gameplay is not possible as the game requires an active internet connection.
