Tiny Troopers 2: Special Ops is the continuation of a humorous shooter with strategic elements, clearly referring to the cult Cannon Fodder series from the early 1990s. The Finnish Kukouri Entertainment studio is again responsible for the creation of the game, but unlike the original, which was also released on PC, the second game is available exclusively on mobile devices.
Mechanics
Tiny Troopers 2: Special Ops doesn't offer any plot. Instead, it concentrates on completing unrelated missions, in which our goal is to command a small troop of soldiers to perform a number of tasks. In the second part, the missions are a bit more varied and apart from typical objectives, such as defeating enemy units, there are also a bit more sophisticated stages, in which you have to blow up specific buildings or defend the evacuated civilians. A novelty here is also the ability to face enemy vehicles such as tanks.
In the breaks between missions, we can recruit new soldiers - they are no longer just ordinary infantry units, but also specialists such as doctors or members of the elite Delta Force armed with flamethrowers. As in the first part of the game, our soldiers gain experience, which allows them to advance to the next levels, and thanks to that they perform much better on the battlefield than the recruits. As in the original, the maps are full of different kinds of collectibles, so apart from shooting, it is worth spending some time exploring the terrain.
Game modes
Besides the campaign, Tiny Troopers 2: Special Ops also features an additional Zombie mode, known from the first game, in which we try to survive in confrontation with waves of living corpses.
Technical aspects
In terms of graphics, Tiny Troopers 2: Special Ops looks much better than its predecessor (especially when compared to its mobile version). However, the whole work was realized in the same, slightly humorous style, in which - as in the aforementioned Cannon Fodder - the cruelty of war isn't presented realistically.
