Mad Games Tycoon is an economic strategy game developed by Eggcode.

Story

In Mad Games Tycoon, the player takes on the role of head of a development studio, which began its activity in the 1980s. Their task is to take care of the employees, watch over the subsequent projects and lead the team through the next stages of development - from a garage company to an industry giant ruling the market and absorbing the competing companies.

Mechanics

In Mad Games Tycoon the action is shown in an isometric view. We start the game with a small office and limited cash, which is enough to develop and release our first video game. With time, more and more opportunities are opening up for us - the money we earn can be used not only to create more games but also to hire more and more employees, purchase better office equipment (or move to a larger office), develop new graphic engines (which can later be sold to other entities, taking advantage of this additional profit) or even to create our own console.

When we start working on a video game, we decide on the genre, target platforms, the presence of anti-piracy protection, as well as a number of other equally important aspects. This means focusing one of the several elements of the game (it is worth remembering that the highest quality of visuals does not always go hand in hand with playability) and choosing the target group (will we create a simple title for the widest possible audience or a hardcore position for experienced players?); moreover, nothing stands in the way of trying to get one of the popular film licenses or to establish cooperation with one of the large publishers. Before releaseing a new title, we can also consider investing in advertising, prepare a spectacular presentation for an industry fair or decide on the content of the box (after all, apart from the game itself, there may be various extras in it).

It is important to our ear close to the ground (observing the activities of the competition and responding to new trends, for example in the form of next-gen consoles) and to take care of the subordinates, providing them with decent working conditions - as we all know, nobody likes to sit after hours in a poorly air-conditioned office.

Technical aspects

Visuals in Mad Games Tycoon feature light cartoonish style. The title boasts an intuitive and clear interface. It should be noted that although the devs did not manage to obtain the rights to use known brands, individual companies and platforms received names clearly associated with their real counterparts.
