I’m still kind of confused regarding how I feel about this game, but I can’t stop playing.
TheXboxHub: 2.5 / 5 by Richard Dobson
Farming Simulator 17 is an unusual beast. It receives critical acclaim from its die-hard fans and rightly so because the mechanics of the actual farming is very impressive. But it does seem to fall short in most of the other departments, which would arguably be where those who have a piqued interest are likely to be drawn in. I found the game interesting, but I wouldn’t necessarily use the word ‘fun’. I was in the piqued interest pool as opposed to the die-hards, but there certainly isn’t enough included to really keep me invested in the day-to-day activities of running my farm.
Critical Hit: 8 / 10 by James Lenoir

However, it’s not a title that will appeal to everyone. This is after all a game about watching digital grass grow.

Farming Simulator 17 Description
Farming Simulator 17 for PC, PS4 and etc. is another installment in the Farming Simulator series. The game let’s the players to experience the work of a modern farmer, who has to take care of his endeavor. In order to do so, players have to obtain machines and proper tools needed for sawing, planting, and gathering crops, as well as moving the goods around. Contrary to the previous installments, this part debuted simultaneously on PC and consoles. As usual, GIANTS Software studio has developed this game. The publishing was taken care of by a French company, Focus Home Interactive, known for such games as Mordheim: City of the Damned, Blood Bowl II, Styx: Master of Shadows or Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments.
Mechanics
As every year, the new edition brings a whole bunch of upgrades allowing total command over the virtual farm. There are new crops now: sunflower and soy. The players can now use “their own” hands instead of machines to do the simplest tasks, such as relocating wood. A new possibility to earn money are “side-quests”, offered by other farmers, controlled by the AI. A lot of new hardware has appeared in this game: the developers give the players over 200 machines from 60 fully licensed manufacturers, including both companies already known from the previous parts (New Holland or Ponsse), as well as entirely new (Massey-Ferguson ir Lely). The vehicles can be upgraded both in terms of visuals, as well as technical capabilities. Machines can now be leased as well. The biggest of the goods can be transported on freight trains, which were never available in the series before.
Technical aspects
Farming Simulator 17 for PC, PS4 and etc. uses the same engine as the previous parts. The developers introduced some modifications, however, mainly in terms of lighting and models of the machines. The gameplay takes place on maps known from Farming Simulator 15 – complimented by the Sosnovka environment (which was already present in the gold edition of the previous game). A new map is also available, set at the coast of Pacific.
Misc.
For the first time in history, the owners of Xbox and Playstation consoles can access mods created by the community, which allows implementation of new graphical effects, vehicles, and maps created by players, for the players.
