Rollercoaster Dreams Description
Rollercoaster Dreams for PS4 is a strategic simulation game that offers the possibility of building and managing our own theme park and testing every attraction ourselves. It was developed by Bimboosoft, a Japanese studio founded in 1998, the creators of Coaster Works for Sega Dreamcast and Rollercoaster World for PlayStation 2, among other titles. The production offers PlayStation VR support and is one of the launch titles bundled with the set.
Mechanics
Rollercoaster Dreams draws inspiration from mechanics known from most of the similar games, primarily from the incredibly popular Rollercoaster Tycoon series. At the core of the gameplay is the strategic aspects since the player is responsible for managing a theme park — from building new attractions and food and drink booths, through hiring necessary personnel, to advertising and financial matters of the entire establishment.
The game naturally allows us to design our own rollercoasters. Thanks to the KALMOF editor that is powerful and rich in features, we can create a unique rollercoaster from scratch, determining the course of its track, kinds of cars, and so on. Such structure, just like any other attraction in our park (including food and drink booths) can be then tested in the FPP view. What’s interesting, the game also offers the sharing feature that allows us to, for example, take a ride on a rollercoaster designed by another player.
Undoubtedly, one of the game’s highlights is the PlayStation VR support that takes testing our attractions to a whole another level, providing experiences similar to a visit to a real theme park.
Technical aspects
Rollercoaster Dreams for PS4 features rather average graphics that don’t utilize the 8th-generation consoles’ potential to its fullest. The bad impression is partly overshadowed by the possibility of using VR sets, though, which translates into unique gaming experience, and the high-quality 3D surround sound. What’s important, the title doesn’t require the PlayStation VR set to run but the developers recommend its use.
