Loop Hero is an indie single player game, which combines dark fantasy adventure game with roguelite, strategy and card game. The game was developed by Four Quarters and released by Devolver Digital.
Loop Hero is a game developed by the Four Quarters studio, which has created an experimental puzzle game Please, Dont't Touch Anything. Loop Hero, in turn, is a hybrid of several genres, such as rogue-lite, card game and strategy game, where, playing the brave hero, we set out to rescue the pixel-art world.
Plot
Loop Hero is set in a medieval fantasy world, where the peace of the inhabitants was disturbed by the evil Lich. With his powerful spell, the world has been thrown into a timeless loop of chaos and destruction, and our task as a brave hero is to save it.
Mechanics
Loop Hero is a game that takes inspiration from several genres. And so, in part, the game fits into the roguelite format, because we go through randomly generated levels, and we spend the loot and goods gained during that process on improvements in our settlement, each of which makes subsequent journeys a little easier. We can also find elements of strategy and card game, because as in the case of Hand of Fate, we create a path, on which we will move depending on the cards that we have as well as those added to the deck. Among them we will find those with enemies, traps, but also parts of equipment or goods necessary to expand the settlement. In addition, during the adventure, we have the opportunity to play several different fantasy classes and each of them has a unique style of gameplay, as well as strengths and weaknesses.
Technical aspects
Loop Hero features an atmospheric pixel art with realistic and detailed sprites, reminiscent of SNES console games.

Hardcore Gamer: 4.5 / 5 by Kyle LeClair
Loop Hero is a brilliant piece of work that plays and succeeds with the idea of repeating gameplay loops via gameplay, story and even meta angles.
TheSixthAxis: 8 / 10
If its aesthetics appeal and the gameplay style grabs you, then Loop Hero will take over your gaming life until you finish it or are drag yourself away. It reminded me strangely of the allure of Football Manager but with a more fantasy setting. The combination of auto combat and strategic choices, with resource management and settlement development on top, makes this a unique and captivating indie game.
IGN: 8 / 10 by Jonathan Bolding
Loop Hero's cleverly stripped-down RPG concept demands attention for as long as it takes you to work out the clear "best" way to guide each hero class, and its fantastically dark story setup stands out as one of the best in years.
