Karlson is an FPP action game in which we explore a scientific complex in search of milk, and we fight enemies in spectacular battles. The free-to-play and independent game was developed by youtuber Dani Deverson, known for his two other free-to-play titles: Muck and Crab Game. In addition, the developer previously produced as part of the Mix and Game Jam a shorter, 2D version of Karlson inspired by Polish SUPERHOT.

Plot

Karlson doesn't feature an overcomplicated storyline. The protagonist is trapped in a mysterious scientific facility, and his only companion is the robot Billy. Our task is to help Karlson get every carton of milk he finds on his way, regardless of obstacles and enemies.

Game mechanics

Karlson is just another game that mixes classic FPS gameplay with the mechanics of 21st century games. In this case, the developer merged dynamic, old-school first-person shooter with parkour stunts. So we run on the walls, break through enemies (and doors and windows) or knock them down with slides in slow motion. From time to time we fight bosses who guard the milk.

During battles we also use weapons, either found in the locations or taken from the defeated opponents. We can find here, among others, a pistol, a grenade launcher, a sword and a grapple gun which allows to get to unreachable places. You can also use more standard weapons, because grenades and shotguns allow you to make rocket jumps.

Game modes

Karlson lets you play solo in the story campaign or try your hand at multiplayer mode. In addition, the developer has included a map editor that allows you to create your own levels.

Technical aspects

Graphics is based on a simplified 3D environment. Locations are mainly sterile, not very diverse rooms, and the designs of robots and other enemies have little to do with realism. At the same time, special effects make the battles look quite spectacular.
