While many people may not be aware of the game Karlson, it is one of the most anticipated games on Steam. According to SteamDB it is 25th, if we take into consideration whishlist, and yet, many players did not hear about it. And those who did, do not know where the developer of this title is. Dani has disappeared 2 years ago. Let’s look at this case.
What is Karlson, who is Dani
Dani is a popular youtuber, a creator of Muck and Crab Game. However, two years ago he disappeared from his official YouTube channel and for long time players have been wondering what has happened to him.
Before he disappeared though, he teased a new project called Karlson – a shooter with multiplayer mode. Moreover, there is even a playable part of it on Itch.io, However, the developer announced that he would like to release a full game on Steam in the future.
Looking at the recent Reddit announcement, it seems that Dani Wiki may be quite accurate with the estimation of the Karlson release date (2024/25) and the idea that the youtuber wants to make his 69th video on the main channel as a quite special one (yes, there are 68 videos right now).
What happened to Dani
A good thing is that according to the announcement on Reddit, Dani is well. Moreover, he works on the YouTube-related things. His long absence is due to many projects, workload and decision to uphold high standards. To speed things up, Dani decided to put on hold a few of his additional ideas and cut some content from the major game he is working on. Dani’s mod, 3viln355 states that “right now, he's in the polishing and soon to be playtesting phase, which still takes some time”.
What is Dani’s next big project? Officially we don’t know, and 3viln355 does not confirm or deny anything:
I'm not going to confirm or deny if his current work is Karlson-related, but it's not off the table. Dani is still committed to his projects, but the specifics of what he is working on remain behind closed doors.
So, knowing that, we need to wait for official information. However, it is possible that next time we will hear from Dani will be at Karlson release.
