Hyenas

Hyenas is an online FPS focused on team-based gameplay. It was developed by the Creative Assembly, although it is very different from the Total War series and Alien: Isolation, for which the SEGA-backed British developer became famous.

Plot

In the distant future, Earth has been devastated, and the survivors of humanity have had to take refuge in The Taint - a space slum orbiting in space. Only the richest have avoided this fate by settling on Mars. While almost everyone has to fight for survival, the billionaires savor life, collecting valuable artifacts from Earth: Rubik's Cubes, figurines of game characters, etc.

The only worries for the "Martians" are the Hyenas - a group of recalcitrant renegades who raid the Plunderships collecting items from Earth and steal the most valuable ones. All this to get under the skin of the rich on the Red Planet.

Game mechanics

Hyenas is a shooter that mixes PvP with PvE, taking inspiration from the PayDay series and Hunt: Showdown. On the one hand, we have five teams of three players, who choose heroes with different personalities and abilities to compete with other Hyenas "herds" for the treasures of the Plunderships.

On the other hand: the loot is protected by MFPF clone-protectors and various safeguards that will not only make it difficult to get the artifacts, but also to escape from the ship. Players can use these environmental obstacles and various gadgets to gain an advantage over their rivals. From time to time, there are also gravity-free locations where characters can fly.

All this translates into dynamic, sometimes chaotic gameplay. The game is also varied by the loot acquired. Pop culture artifacts include albums by famous artists and figurines of game and movie characters (including productions from SEGA's catalog).

Technical aspects

Hyenas opts for a frivolous atmosphere, and shows it with 3D graphics. Graphics is relatively realistic, but also colorful, and character designs wouldn't be out of place in superhero comics.
