Horizon: Forbidden West - Complete Edition

Horizon Forbidden West: Complete Edition is a definitive edition of the action adventure game with RPG elements, Horizon: Forbidden West. Aside from the base game, it includes the Burning Shores expansion and many different bonuses.

The PlayStation 5 version was developed by Guerrilla Games, while the PC port was co-created by Nixxes Software.

Plot

Horizon Forbidden West: Complete Edition is set after the first Horizon game. The protagonist, Aloy, must face a new blight threatening all life on Earth. To find a way to stop it, she sets out to the titular American west. The Burning Shores DLC is set in the ruins of Los Angeles, where she faces yet another threat.

Mechanics

Horizon Forbidden West: Complete Edition is a third-person open world game set in the west and center of the post-apocalyptic United States. We'll visit ruins, forests, rocky mountains, deserts and snowy peaks, traversing them on foot or mounted on various grounded and flying machines.

To progress through the game, we must complete main quests, side quests and optional activities. The player has access to many different gadgets, such as the Focus that shows places of interest, a Pullcaster grappling hook, a Shieldwing glider and a special oxygen mask used for diving.

Aloy will meet many allies and enemies on her journey, including humans and machines of various sizes. Combat is fast-paced, having us wield a bow, a spear, javelins, grenades and setting up traps. Aloy can approach most encounters stealthily, weakening the enemy forces from hiding before a direct battle breaks out. As we progress, we develop her skills, acquire and craft better gear and face greater challenges.

Technical aspects

Horizon Forbidden West: Complete Edition features very high-quality visuals. The locations are immensely detailed, while the characters are very realistically animated.

Aside from the Burning Shores DLC, this edition includes some digital bonuses: the soundtrack, an artbook, the Horizon Zero Dawn Vol. 1: The Sunhawk comic book, unlockable items and additional photo mode options.
