Hitman Video Game Series
A highly popular series combining elements of action and stealth games, featuring the missions of a paid assassin - Agent 47. The series was created by Danish development studio IO Interactive.
The first part of the series, titled Hitman: Codename 47 - was released in 2002 on PCs. The title aroused a lot of interest due to its original, mature theme and high freedom of gameplay. Subsequent installments of the series - Hitman 2: Silent Assassin (2002), Hitman: Contracts (2004) and Hitman: Blood Money (2006) appeared not only on PC, but also on Xbox and PlayStation 2 consoles; additionally, the last mentioned item came to Xbox 360. For the full-fledged fifth part of the series, Hitman: Absolution, fans had to wait six years, until 2012, when it appeared on PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. Four years later the brand saw a reboot in the form of Hitman: Absolution, released for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 - Hitman. In 2018, it was followed by the game Hitman 2, while in 2022 the culmination of the "new trilogy" appeared on PC and eighth- and ninth-generation consoles, under the title Hitman 3.
In addition to the main installments, over the years the series Hitman has lived to see a number of spin-offs. In 2012, a simple game saw the light of day Hitman: The Sniper's Challenge. The year 2014, however, brought the release of the game Hitman GO, which combined the theme of contract killings with mechanics combining elements of turn-based strategy and puzzle games. In 2015, the game was released on mobile devices Hitman: Sniper, based on the scheme developed for the first of the aforementioned spin-offs. In 2022, it lived to see a sequel under the title Hitman Sniper: The Shadows.
In addition, the series received various omnibus editions, and its older installments received remasters over time.
The main character of the series Hitman is Agent 47, a paid assassin at the service of the fictional ICA (International Contract Agency). In the course of the gameplay, players discover the true origin of the protagonist, who is the product of an experiment to breed the perfect assassin.
Gameplay in games under the banner of Hitman combines elements of shooters and stealth. The player's task is to carry out missions involving the elimination of designated characters. At the same time he has a lot of freedom both in terms of the choice of weapons and ways of carrying out missions; individual targets can be both shot and poisoned or even fall victims to fake accidents.
Released in 2016, the game Hitman introduced a breath of fresh air in the form of more open-ended gameplay - each mission in it was structured as a separate entity - and a distribution model reminiscent of episodic adventures. At launch, only the first of several elaborate quests was offered, with more being made available over time as paid DLCs. The title also introduced timed challenges, which could only be completed for a certain period of time after they were made available, as well as Elusive Target-type challenges, where we could only make one attempt to complete a task.
Hitman 2 from 2018, on the other hand, was the first installment in the series to feature an online competitive mode, called Phantom Mode. In it, two people competed on a single map, trying to make the highest-scoring kill. It also featured, for the first time, a cooperative multiplayer mode, in which, working together with other players, we eliminated targets with a rifle.
The popularity of the game found its way into mass culture. In 2007, a movie was released in theaters Hitman directed by Xavier Gens (Agent 47 was played by Timothy Olyphant). In 2015, the game received another adaptation, this time called Hitman: Agent 47. The lead role was played by Rupert Friend, previously known mainly for the series Homeland. In 2012 there was also a series titled Hitman 101, consisting of twelve 25-minute episodes. The publishing house Del Rey Books also published two novels written by William C. Dietz novels - Hitman: Enemy Within and Hitman: Damnation.

A mobile entry in the popular action games series that expands on a simple minigame, Hitman: Sniper Challenge, from 2012, which came out before the fifth installment in the Hitman series. Unlike the main installments, the game from Square Enix Montreal focuses strictly on sniping challenges, in which we have to silently eliminate our targets. Therefore, we can’t move and have to complete our task from a static position. Agent 47 has to locate his prey and can shoot only a single bullet, which is made more difficult due to the fact that most of the missions require you to locate your target in a crowded public space. This forces us to wait for appropriate time to shoot and eliminate it without getting spotted by other people. Completing each task earns us points that can be used to unlock and attach new upgrades to our sniping rifle.

We play in turns and have to reach a given point in the level unnoticed, and then discreetly eliminate our target while completing various side objectives on the way. The maps are small, and our actions have to be carefully planned to avoid drawing attention. Game is characterized by its unusual visuals; the in-game locations are presented in the form of paper models, with all characters being represented by pawns that resemble board games figurines.

As you play, you cannot move around – the character remains in a static position on the rooftop of a nearby building. Your job is to take down the main target and a bunch of his bodyguards in less than 15 minutes. The more efficient and spectacular way you do this, the better. We play as the mysterious assassin codenamed 47, owner of a characteristic (lack of) haircut and a barcode tattoo. The protagonist, working for a secret organization called the Agency, undertakes and completes assignments all over the world, often targeting influential bosses of the underground. Gameplay emphasizes freedom at performing each assassination and rewards well-planned, silent executions. The game stands out with its high realism and difficulty level, with a single mistake being all what it takes to fail the mission.
Hitman: Blood Money

May 26, 2006
The fourth installment in a popular game series about Agent 47, the perfect assassin, completing various contracts for the ICA organization. When its members are being meticulously eliminated and 47 loses contact with his superior, Diana Burnwood, he reaches the conclusion that he will become the next target. In order to save his skin 47 decides to stop the man behind the killings, Alexander Cayn, and his terrorist organization called the Franchise. When it comes to gameplay Hitman: Blood Money retains the core mechanics of the series, offering expansive missions whose objectives can be completed in many different ways. To do this we can use a wide arsenal of weapons, spearheaded by the silent and deadly fiber wire. The variety of moves and actions the protagonist can perform is greater than before, and the game offers a simple economy system. The money you earn lets you buy new deadly tools for your arsenal, weapon upgrades, and useful gadgets.
Hitman: Contracts
Action
April 20, 2004
The third installment in a popular stealth action game series, in which you play as the mysterious assassin known as Agent 47. Story-wise, Hitman: Contracts is made up of a series of flashback missions, beginning in a Parisian hotel, where the protagonist gets into after having been shot in the stomach during one of his missions. Heavily wounded, the protagonist is plagued by visions of his past contracts. Some of them are brand new missions and not related to one another, while some are more or less redesigned missions from the first Hitman game. Game mechanics employ the same well-proven gameplay formula from the previous installments in the series. Each of the 12 long missions features several objectives that can be completed in many different ways. Moreover, the game is darker and more brutal than its predecessors thanks to an interesting story and some audiovisual tricks.
