Release Date: cancelled

The third expansion for Half-life 2, sequel to one of the most acclaimed first-person shooters, developed by Valve and released in 2004. Initially, Half-Life 2: Episode Three was supposed to be issued directly after the previous two episodes, released in years 2006 and 2007, but the project was canceled for unknown reasons.
Half-Life 2: Episode Three Description
Half-Life 2: Episode Three is the third, and simultaneously the last, expansion to the outstanding FPS released in 2004, which in its time managed to set new trends for the shooter genre. The advanced physics of objects were particularly popular amongst the players. The company responsible for developing the title – Valve Software – used their own original engine, called the Source Engine, to create the project; however, the studio has introduced various innovations to their tool, ensuring that Episode Three will not fall behind other modern productions.
In Half-Life 2: Episode Three we, yet again, play the role of the main character of the entire Half-Life series – Gordon Freeman, a scientist, who is also quite proficient with all available kinds of weaponry. The storyline of the game is a continuation of the events of the prequel and solves the thus far unsolved story arcs of the trilogy. This time we are transported to the icebound lands created exclusively for the needs of the third episode. Similarly to previous installments we have huge environment interaction options, which will undoubtedly aid us in our fight against the clever and cunning enemies.

Valve Explains the Absence of Half-Life 2: Episode 3
Half-Life 2: Episode 3 is a title that went down in history even though it was never made (so far). After 12 years of waiting, we learned the reasons why we didn't see the finale of Gordon Freeman's adventures. As it turns out, the decision to stop the development of title was complex and resulted from things like the creative slump and the focus on the Source 2 engine.
