Grindstone is a puzzle game developed by Capybara Games studio, the authors of Don't Starve: Shipwrecked, Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP, Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes and Below.

Plot

The game is set in a fantasy land. The player assumes the role of a warrior named Jorj, whose task is to cleanse the land of the monsters that inhabit it. We are not noble heroes or adventurers here - we perform these tasks because it is our job and we go home to our families at the end of an eight-hour work shift.

Game mechanics

Grindstone is a puzzle game that combines match-3 mechanics with tactical elements. The gameplay is turn-based and takes place on levels populated with monsters of different colors. The player has to create attack lines of his hero so that in one move he eliminates at least three opponents of the same color in a row. The longer the string, the more powerful our combat techniques are. If you kill a minimum of 10 enemies in a single move, you are rewarded with a gem that allows you to create strings of attacks that target monsters of different colors.

However, monsters are not defenseless, so when planning an offensive we must take into account that our warrior should finish the move in as safe a place as possible. The character is only able to survive a few attacks, so you have to be careful in creating attacks. The game is varied by various obstacles and traps on the map, as well as the fact that some enemies can move on the map.

In addition to standard clashes, skirmishes with bosses also await the player. As the player progresses in the game, he collects resources and construction plans, which can be used to create increasingly better equipment for his warrior.
