Gran Turismo HD Concept
Release Date: December 24, 2006
A free spin-off to the popular Gran Turismo series, which was intended to serve as an introduction for the planned – but eventually cancelled – Gran Turismo HD. The title also acts a kind of bridge between the new and old generation of Sony consoles, as it is based on Gran Turismo 4 released on PlayStation 2, but was created with tools designed for another major installment of the series, intended for PlayStation 3.

Gran Turismo HD Concept Description
Gran Turismo HD Concept is the first attempt to instil a popular racing brand on the PlayStation 3 platform. This product is actually a bridge between two generations of consoles, as it is based on Gran Turismo 4 from PlayStation 2, albeit with selected tools designed for Gran Turismo 5 for PS3. Note that the "Concept" can only be downloaded from PlayStation Store, so an Internet connection is required for PlayStation 3.
Developers from Japanese company Polyphony Digital allowed us to drive ten authentic cars. We finally managed to get a license from Ferrari, so there's no problem driving a 599 GTB Fiorano with a 6-litre V12 engine with 612 hp. In addition, there are also Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX GSR, Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec II and Lotus Elise 111R in the virtual garage. Interestingly, you can unlock the tuned version of each of the basic machines.
PlayStation 3 delivers ultra-high quality visuals at a maximum resolution of 1920x1080 while maintaining progressive scanning. Thanks to this, not only every implemented car model looks great, but also the environment on the only available route - the road in the Swiss part of the Alps.
