A continuation of the popular racing game series labeled with the name of Colin McRae, a famous racing driver. Contrary to the previous installments of the series that were devoted to classic car racing, this time around, the developers at Codemasters decided to turn their eye to a completely different direction and focus on off-road racing, which was an equally important episode in the career of the legendary Scotsman.

DiRT Description
DIRT: Colin McRae Off-Road is de facto another installment of the bestselling racing game series for PC, X360 and PS3 that was created in 1998 and has been branded with the name of the famous Scottish racing driver ever since. This time around, the developers at Codemasters Software decided to abandon the traditional naming (i.e. Colin McRae Rally) to emphasize the new quality of the gameplay which is now devoted solely to off-road driving.
Mechanics
As always, we can drive in classical special sections but we can also take part in a number of other disciplines. For example, we can participate in rallycross tournaments or mountain racing (e.g. the popular Pikes Peak International Hill Climb track, located in the state of Colorado, which has the length of 20 kilometers and 156 turns). Moreover, the game features a desert competition that somewhat resembles Dakar Rally.
Depending on the chosen game mode, we have different cars at our disposal — classical or modern, with two-wheel drive (front or rear) or four-wheel drive. Traditionally, the developers secured necessary licenses so the available vehicles include, for example, the faithfully recreated model of Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX. All cars are naturally destructible and are covered with dirt with time.
The developers made sure that the environment is highly interactive, so if we drive into a pile of stones, we will scatter it all around.
Game modes
Naturally, apart from the single player mode, the title features a multiplayer. Its most spectacular gameplay variant is the online competition over the Internet.

DiRT / WRC Series
Series DiRT is the direct successor to the series Colin McRae Rally, launched in 1998 by Codemasters. When in 2004 the series' patron Colin McRae abandoned WRC racing in favor of the Dakar Rally and the X-Games series, the developers decided to change the direction of its development, enriching the game with off-road rallies and increasing the range of available vehicles to include off-road cars, trucks and rovers. The new game also received a significant name DiRT.
