An isometric post-cyberpunk RPG from Harebrained studio - authors of the Shadowrun trilogy. In Graft we explore a dying city in a survival horror setting, collecting titular transplants which offer new abilities, but also a part of the identity of their former owners.
Graft is a post-cyberpunk RPG game. It features an isometric view and it was enriched with survival horror elements. The creators of the Shadowrun trilogy and such games as BattleTech and The Lamplighters League, Harebrained studio, are responsible for this project.
Plot
In Graft we are transported to the fallen city of Arc, which was once a huge station the size of a continent. It was inhabited by enhanced biomechanical citizens, jointly striving for a greater goal.
Both the power of the station and its inhabitants are now just history. The Arc is shrouded in darkness, and the most valuable resources are strength and light.
During our adventure we come across other survivors. We can form alliances with them and build deeper relationships. It is only up to us who we trust and how this will affect the fate of our adventure.
Gameplay
The aim of the game is to escape from the dying city before it swallows us along with the rest. We explore mysterious locations full of secrets to discover and we traverse the smoke-belching abysses. We are looking for a way out of self-replicating labyrinths and techno-catacombs.
Apart from the unfavourable environment, the challenge comes from the various enemies waiting for us in the darkness. Enemies include both unbridled biomechanical experiments and ruthless artificial intelligence agents. During battles with them, we use a variety of tools and weapons. To escape alive from Arc, we must manage the resources we have acquired and carefully plan every move.
The game presents us with the ability to strengthen our bodies using transplants called "grafts". We take them from defeated enemies or find them as a result of careful exploration. Every transplant is a lethal tool. Beyond improvements, we also implant the desires and memories of the previous owner. This carries irreversible consequences and it only depends on our decisions how we will allow it to affect who we are.
