Developed by Exact and Production I.G., Ghost in the Shell is a third-person shooter on the license of the Japanese cyberpunk classic, where players take control of a spider-like robot equipped with a range of weapons and modern functions.
Story
The nameless recruit joins the Public Security Section 9, a special unit whose members include Major Motoko Kusanagi, Togusa, Batou, and Saito. The branch is tasked with solving the problem of a terrorist group called Human Liberation Front, which laid explosive devices under the headquarters of Megatech Body Corporation. A complex investigation begins, in which the rookie officer gains a chance to demonstrate extraordinary skills as the operator of a combat machine. The story presented in the game was written by the author of the original manga, Masamune Shirov.
Mechanics
Ghost in the Shell is a 3D arcade shooter with a third-person view, in which the players control a spider-like tank, the Fuchikoma. At the helm, armed with two high-speed cannons and homing rockets, they undertake subsequent missions, in which they have to face numerous enemy forces, including helicopters, robots, and tanks. The creators have prepared a number of different objectives on subsequent levels, which saves the game from being monotonous. Players must eliminate targets, detonate bombs, hunt an invisible, hiding opponent or chase a designated villain.
The skillful, dynamic character of the game is influenced by the fact that the Fuchikoma has an infinite amount of ammunition for its weapons and is able to move on the walls and ceilings. In addition, the machine can be equipped with powerful grenades, which can be found on maps.
Technical aspects
Based on the iconic anime, the game enables us to follow the action not only from the perspective of a third person but also in FPP. The plot of the game is presented in anime cut-scenes presented between levels.
