Factorio: Space Age

Factorio: Space Age is a large expension to an acclaimed indie strategy game by the Czech studio Wube Software. Its release (announced for mid-2024) and accompanying update mark Factorio's transition to version 2.0.

Plot

Space Age begins where the base game ends, after launching your first rocket into space. Players can therefore expand into space, discovering uncharted worlds and using brand new resources.

Mechanics

As the base game, the DLC tasks us with creating and managing factories, this time on four brand new planets. Each world features a different atmosphere, resources, mechanics and challenges. There are also different military objectives to achieve.

Yet another novelty is building orbital facilities used to travel between planets, creating automated logistical networks and generating space science. Just one rocket isn't enough to transport all the materials needed to build them. Players will need much, much more to get to exploring new areas.

The order in which we explore new worlds will prove crucial for our strategy.

Game modes

Factorio supports singleplayer and co-op.

Technical aspects

The game features 2D visuals reminiscent of games from the 1990s. It makes use of the isometric top-down perspective.
