Cocoon

Cocoon is a puzzle adventure game built on the concept of recursion. It was developed by an indie studio Geometric Interactive, founded by Jeppe Carlsen, the main designer of Limbo and Inside.

Plot

Cocoon is set in a fantasy universe, explored as a human-insect hybrid. The protagonist traverses various worlds contained within small spheres, trying to solve a cosmic mystery.

Mechanics

Cocoon makes use of the top-down perspective. The game's core gameplay loop is traveling between worlds. Each world fits inside a sphere we can carry on our back. The spheres also have unique abilities, such as uncovering invisible paths or activating machinery. There are numerous puzzles to solve with these two mechanics. The player must use the spheres' abilities and enter different worlds in the correct order.

Our adventure will lead us through giant industrial facilities, vast wastelands and massive caves. Each world is also protected by a guardian we must defeat to unlock the sphere's full potential. All boss battles are different and feature unique mechanics.

Technical aspects

Cocoon features colorful, cartoonish visuals and an atmospheric, electronic soundtrack.
